Found mouse droppings? Don't sweep them.

Why not

The CDC is direct about it: "Don't vacuum or sweep rodent urine, droppings, or nesting materials. This can cause tiny droplets containing viruses to get into the air."

What the CDC recommends instead

  • "Open all doors and windows for 30 minutes before cleaning to ventilate the space. Leave the area during this time."
  • "Put on rubber or plastic gloves."
  • "Spray urine and droppings with bleach solution or an EPA-registered disinfectant until very wet."
  • "Let it soak for 5 minutes or according to instructions on the disinfectant label."

The CDC's page has the full steps for removing the waste and cleaning up the area afterward.
